The beginning of the new year has not been good for former Team India captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit, who was hoping to be a part of Team India in the ODI World Cup 2027, completely failed in the series against New Zealand. There were huge expectations in this series from Rohit, who performed well against Australia and South Africa last year, but ‘Hitman’ could not leave any impact. Even in the last match of the series played in Indore, his bat did not work and he returned to the pavilion after scoring only 11 runs. In this way, he ended the series with only 61 runs, which is his worst performance.
In the first two matches of this series, Rohit Sharma was out while trying to get off to a fast start and failed to play a big innings. In such a situation, it was expected that they would equalize the score in the last and decisive match of the series at Holkar Stadium. When New Zealand gave a big target of 338 runs, Team India was in great need of its former captain. Rohit also started the innings with an excellent four on the very first ball but after that he was seen struggling.
After the four on the first ball, he could not score any runs on all five balls of the over. Even after this he was seen trying to achieve the boundary. Then in the fourth over, he got a lease of life on the fourth ball of Jack Fox, when the wicketkeeper dropped his catch. Rohit hit a four on the very next ball, which raised hopes that he would punish New Zealand for this mistake. In this attempt, Rohit tried to play the last ball over the midwicket fielder but was not successful and the catch went straight into the hands of the mid-on fielder. He could score only 11 runs.
