Roger Federer returns to Wimbledon’s Royal Box with wife Mirka- WATCH

New Delhi: Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer was spotted at the All England Club, drawing warm cheers from fans as he arrived with his wife Mirka to watch the action from the Royal Box. The Swiss legend, who retired in 2022, has made Wimbledon a regular stop even post-retirement, marking this as his third appearance at the event since stepping away from professional tennis in 2022.

Federer was seen with Mirka in Wimbledon Village as they are expected to watch Novak Djokovic’s high-stake clash as the Serbian is chasing his eighth Wimbledon crown aiming to equal Federer’s men’s singles record at SW19 and secure a record 25th Grand Slam title.

SW19 on Centre Court includes three clashes: Novak Djokovic vs Alex de Minaur, Emma Navarro vs Andreeva and Jannik Sinner vs Grigor Dimitrov. The Swiss star turned up in style in a dark blue suit and sunglasses while his wife was seen wearing an elegant white dress, keeping in tone with the dress code at Wimbledon.

The 43-year-old first lifted the Wimbledon trophy in 2003 and went on to dominate the grass court winning five consecutive titles until 2007. He then won sixth in 2006, a seventh in 0212 and won the record eighth in 2017, a mark that remains unmatched in the men’s game.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion was first seated in the Royal Box in 2023, where he received a prolonged standing ovation from the crowd. He returned again last year after his kids persuaded him to revisit the tournament he once ruled.

This year, Federer’s presence at Wimbledon continues to add a touch of royalty and bring back the memories of the years when his elegant play and calm presence defined Centre Court. While he may no longer be battling for titles but still the Swiss legend continues to support the tournament he loves, underlining his enduring bond with Wimbledon, a place that has witnessed some of his greatest triumphs.
