RJD had won this high voltage seat by only 1973 votes in 2020, tough competition fixed again in 2025 – News Himachali News Himachali

Siwan Assembly seat is one of those high profile seats in Bihar, where the contest is close in every election. This seat comes under Siwan Lok Sabha constituency and is considered the political heartbeat of the district.

History is witness that in the first assembly elections held in 1951, Shankar Nath of Congress had won here. But with time the political equations changed and now this seat has become a field of direct conflict between RJD and BJP.

In the 2020 assembly elections, RJD’s Awadh Bihari Chaudhary defeated BJP’s Om Prakash Yadav by a margin of just 1,973 votes in a very close contest on this seat. Avadh Bihari Chaudhary got 76,785 votes, while Om Prakash Yadav got 74,812 votes. This result was an indication that the people of Siwan are not completely one-sided; every election here has turned into a vote-to-vote fight.

Siwan’s identity is not only linked to politics but also to history and culture. This is the same land with which the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, was associated. Siwan city, situated on the banks of Daha river, is situated at the northwestern end of Bihar and is adjacent to the border of Uttar Pradesh. This geographical and social diversity makes this region even more special electorally.

Political analysts say that Siwan seat will once again see a high voltage contest in the 2025 assembly elections. RJD is busy maintaining its support base, while BJP is preparing a complete strategy to avenge this defeat.
