New Delhi: Ritu Tawde of the BJP is set to become the next mayor of Mumbai, while, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Shankar will be the deputy mayor. The BJP today declared Ritu Tawde as the party’s candidate for the Mumbai mayor post. The formal announcement was made by BJP Mumbai president Amit Satam.

Who is Ritu Tawade, the next Mumbai mayor?

Ritu Tawade is a senior BJP corporator. In 2012, she won from Ward Number 127. In 2017, she was elected for the first time from Ward Number 121 in Ghatkopar. Subsequently, in the 2025 elections, she was re-elected from Ward Number 132. She has also served as the chairperson of the Education Committee of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

Who is Sanjay Shankar, the next deputy mayor of Mumbai?

Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Shankar Ghadi has been nominated as the candidate for the BMC deputy mayor. Previously, he served as the State General Secretary of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. He is currently Shiv Sena’s Raigad district Liaison chief. He served as a corporator from 2017 to 2022 and re-elected as a corporator in 2026.
