Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh, who is serving as a jailor on the reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, confronted contestant Yogesh Rawat over his remarks claiming that his eviction had impacted the show’s TRP ratings.
During the episode, Riteish questioned Yogesh’s comments and warned him against assuming that the show’s success depended on any individual contestant. He even told Yogesh that he could leave if he believed he was bigger than the platform.
Riteish said that the show’s decisions are based on tasks and performances rather than the personal choices of the host, mentor or streaming platform. He reminded Yogesh that his elimination was the result of a task and not an individual decision.
“Did I take you out? Did Farah take you out? Did Netflix take you out? A task took place for it,” Riteish said while questioning whether the elimination process was fair.
The actor also criticised Yogesh’s attitude and said that established personalities on the show, including actor Ram Kapoor, respect the platform and do not consider themselves bigger than the programme.
“We are known for our work. We have seen the way you spoke,” Riteish told Yogesh during the discussion.
Yogesh had earlier suggested that his exit from the show had affected its popularity and that his return was linked to reactions from his fans. His comments led to a strong response from Riteish, who emphasised that the reality show is larger than any single participant.
The second season of Lock Upp features contestants including Shilpa Shinde, Akanksha Chaudhary, Ram Kapoor, Shreya Kalra, Shivangi Joshi, Harshad Chopra, Dhoopar and Varun Yadav, also known as Laila.
The show is hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. The first season, launched in 2022, was hosted by Kangana Ranaut, with Munawar Faruqui emerging as the winner.
