Now, ‘s family has reportedly taken the legal route, posthumously copyrighting his name. According to a media report, the Kapoor family made this decision to avoid unauthorised and commercial use. The report further suggests that the family has obtained permission to copyright the late actor’s name. Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020 after a long battle with leukemia.

A source told India Today that the Kapoor family got the permission to copyright Rishi Kapoor’s name. It was apparently done to ensuring that any individual or entity seeking to use the late actor’s name in commercial, professional or public capacity would require prior permission from the family.

The report further states that the Kapoor family’s decision is aligned with similar practices that take place across the globe. That’s how families and estates maintain control over how a late artist’s name is presented in commercial and public spaces. “As per the copyright, anyone wanting to use the name Rishi Kapoor or mention it in any capacity would need prior permission from the family,” the source added.

The actor expressed that he stopped crying very early in his life. “I didn’t even cry when my father passed away. The doctor told me the night that I was in the hospital – I spending many nights there – that it was his last night and he’s gonna go anytime soon. I went up to the room and got a panic attack. I don’t know how to express myself,” he said.
