Rishabh Pant suffered an injury during the optional practice session of Team India. While batting against throw down specialists, he was hit by the ball just above the waist (near the waist), after which he left the field. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Pant will no longer be able to take part in this series. He was included in the Indian ODI squad as the second wicketkeeper after KL Rahul. In such a situation, the team does not need any immediate replacement. But the selectors can announce a replacement for Pant in the coming days.

This injury of Pant is another link in his ongoing fitness problems. He has struggled with injuries many times in the past and has taken time to make a comeback. Earlier, Pant also had to face injury during the England tour in the year 2025. Then he was out of the series on the first day of the Manchester Test due to a right leg injury. Due to which he stayed away from the cricket field for some time. Then he returned to the team in the series played against South Africa. But he has once again got injured.

This player may get a chance

Ishan Kishan may get a chance in place of Pant in the ODI team, who has also been included in the team for the T20I series. Ishan Kishan’s recent performance has been quite strong. Due to which he has also been given a place in Team India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026.
