Rishabh Pant brutally scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal over poor fielding at short leg in Guwahati Test

Stand-in Indian captain Rishabh Pant has shown some attacking gameplay with a slip and short leg in position to mount some pressure on the batters.

He has also been spotted brutally scolding youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal for a poor show in the attacking fielding position.

The pitch conditions in the Guwahati Stadium have been very different from what they were at the Eden Gardens. This pitch has turn, bounce, carry, and every element that makes it an ideal red-ball track.

The Proteas have also made great use of the conditions here in Guwahati, as almost every batter in the South African batting order contributed significantly to take their innings past the 400-run mark.

Rishabh Pant scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal for a poor show in the field

Yashasvi Jaiswal remains one of India’s youngest players in the Test side, and he has been spotted being scolded by almost every captain he has played under. From Rohit Sharma in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Shubman Gill in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, no captain has spared him from being rebuked.

Fielding at short leg, Jaiswal was not adopting an ideal style, as he didn’t spread out his hands and instead spread out his legs to stop the ball. Pant looked frustrated as he screamed, ‘Spread your hands; spreading legs won’t help taking catches.’

Marco Jansen breaks bats off, paves the way for 500 with a quickfire half-century

After Ravindra Jadeja finally handed India their much-needed breakthrough with the dismissal of Kyle Verreynne, Marco Jansen, the lanky all-rounder, took the field. He has come in with some different motives, as he launched a counterattack on the Indian bowlers.

Showing an ultra-aggressive intent, Marco Jansen picked and smashed Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja for sixes. When Jasprit Bumrah was introduced to the attack, he did not even spare the legendary Indian bowler.

In his quickfire half-century, he smashed four huge sixes and even broke his bat twice in the attempt to slog the Indian bowlers. His partner, on the other hand, advanced to an iconic hundred.

Senuran Muthusamy survives multiple times, nears breaking his best Test score

The left-handed all-rounder from South Africa made his debut in India and is playing an innings of a lifetime. Just when it mattered the most, Senuran Muthusamy was part of two hundred marks being passed in the Protea innings.

He came in to bat when South Africa just went past 200, and since then, he has been part of partnerships that have taken the score past 400. Muthusamy was on 99* at the time of writing and was not only nearing his maiden international hundred but also nearing his former highest score of 89* in Test cricket.

However, he survived the most controversial LBW in the series with a DRS call, saving him, and later a top-edge of his bat was missed due to a lousy effort from Mohammed Siraj.
