New Delhi: Team India wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh was appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the West Bengal Police after her brilliant performance in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed over the appointment letter during a felicitation ceremony, which was organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Saturday, November 8, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The 22-year-old was also honoured with the prestigious Banga Bhushan award from the state government. The CAB presented her with a golden bat and ball, along with a cash reward of Rs 34 lakh as a tribute to her 34-run innings against South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai. The West Bengal government also gifted her a gold chain, which was handed over by the Chief Minister.
Mamata Banerjee said that legends like Jhulan Goswami laid the foundation for Indian women’s cricket, and Richa Ghosh ensured that India finally ended the long wait for an ICC title.
