India vs South Africa Test: The performance of the Indian team in Test cricket is continuously deteriorating. Team India seems to be yearning for victory especially at home. New Zealand had come to India in 2024 and made a clean sweep of the Test series 3-0 and now South Africa has also defeated Team India. At such a time, coach Gautam Gambhir is everyone’s target. From common fans to former cricketers, questions have been raised on the decisions and methods of the coach. But amidst all this, former captain Virat Kohli’s elder brother Vikas has made a scathing attack on Gambhir and termed the condition of the team as the result of Gambhir’s bullying.
‘The result of showing unnecessary bullying’
Team India lost the Kolkata Test match against South Africa in just two and a half days. At the same time, his condition in the Guwahati Test match was very bad and here also his chances of victory were destroyed. In such a situation, Team India came close to losing its second series at home within a year and this put the entire team as well as the head coach in the circle of questions. At such a time, Virat’s elder brother Vikas Kohli vented his anger on social media and gave reasons for many decisions.
In a social media post, Vikas Kohli summed up the team’s mentality and wrote, “There was a time when we used to play to win even in foreign countries. Today we are playing to save Test matches in India itself. This is what happens when you show arrogance and unnecessarily try to change things that are right.” However, he deleted this post later.
‘Remove senior players, make bowlers bat’
He did not stop there and in another post blamed the insistence on forcefully ousting senior players. He wrote, “Let’s try to understand this. Team India’s strategy – leave out senior players. Remove regular batsmen at 3/4/5. Play the bowler at number 3. Play all-rounders. South Africa’s strategy – play a proper Test team. Specialist opener, specialist 3/4/5 batsman, specialist spinner, specialist fast bowler and probably an all-rounder.”
He further wrote that he wants to see Team India win but questions should be asked as to who is responsible for this situation. Vikas Kohli later removed these posts but this is not the first time when he has expressed his objection to the methods of Team India management. Even before this he has been doing this and coming into controversies.
