On Republic Day 2026, the Culture Department organized a grand cultural program on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’ on Vidhan Sabha Road, Lucknow. More than 200 artists from 9 states and artists from UP presented various folk dances.
Lucknow. On the occasion of 77th Republic Day in the state capital Lucknow, a grand cultural program was organized by the Culture Department on Vidhan Sabha Marg. A beautiful glimpse of the diverse cultural traditions of the country was seen in this event.
This year, for the first time on Republic Day, more than 200 artists from nine states of the country presented their performances. In accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Culture Department based this event on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’.
Artists from nine states showcased India’s cultural diversity
For the first time in the Republic Day celebrations, artists from nine states gave a message of cultural unity by performing together on the Vidhan Sabha Marg. Artists from Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra presented the folk culture of their respective states in a vibrant form. Artists from Arunachal Pradesh enthralled the audience by presenting folk dances of Singpho and Nishi tribes.
Colorful presentations of various folk dances of the country
Jhijhiya dance of Mithilanchal region of Bihar, Raut dance of Chhattisgarh, Dhal-Talwar Raas of Gujarat and Rauf dance of Jammu and Kashmir were presented in the programme. Along with this, Badhaai dance of Madhya Pradesh, Legium of Maharashtra, Tamang Selo of Sikkim and tribal folk dances of Tripura presented a beautiful glimpse of unity in diversity.
Artists of Uttar Pradesh showcased rich cultural heritage
Artists of Uttar Pradesh also gave a grand display of the rich cultural heritage of the state. Artists of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya gave a mesmerizing presentation of Kathak dance. Badhawa and Faroowahi folk dance of Ayodhya attracted the audience. Conch blowing and Peacock folk dance of Mathura and Dhedhiya folk dance of Prayagraj made the event even more grand.
Presentations of school students gave the message of national unity
As part of the cultural programs, contingents of school students also gave colorful presentations based on the theme of national unity. These presentations instilled patriotism, zeal and enthusiasm in the audience.
The message of ‘One India-Best India’ echoed from the capital Lucknow.
