Basic Education Minister Statement On Merger: In the UP Assembly, the Basic Education Minister answered the opposition’s questions on school merger and teacher recruitment. The minister said that the policy is to increase the convenience and education of children, the recruitment process continues.
UP Assembly School Merger Debate: The session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was overwhelmed on the issues of education on Tuesday. While the opposition questioned the enrollment of students, school merger, recruitment of teachers and admission age of children, Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh responded to every charge with detailed data.
What is the government’s stand on the entry age of children?
Minister Sandeep Singh clarified that it is not possible to do the age of admission in primary schools for 4 years, as the Right to Education (RTE) law implements uniform provisions across the country. He said that there is already a system of education and nutrition in Anganwadi for children aged 3 to 6 years.

Enrollment and teacher appointment, what does photo say?
According to the latest government data, more than 1.48 crore children are currently enrolled in council schools.
- Primary School: 1,04,93,389 children, 3,38,590 teachers, 1,43,450 Shikshamitra
- Upper Primary School: 43,01,483 children, 1,20,860 teachers, 25,223 instructors
The minister claimed that a student-teacher ratio of 30: 1 in primary education and 35: 1 in upper primary education has been maintained.
Are schools being closed, what will change with merger?
This allegation of the opposition was completely rejected by the minister. He said that the government has not decided to close any school. The pairing system has been made only in schools where the student number is less than 50 and which are located within a radius of 1 km. Its purpose is to provide better resources to children and facilities for close school. The minister said that the paired schools have been contained in resource -based schools. Pre-primary and nursery classes are being started in vacant buildings. So far, more than 3000 schools are operating in collaboration with ICDs and 19,484 ACCE has been appointed on contract.
Change since 2017
Sandeep Singh claimed that between 2017 and 2025, the Yogi government did not do as much as the work done by the government in the field of education.

The minister said that the government’s resolve is to take the quality of education to new heights. Model schools equipped with modern facilities, better teacher-student ratio and new recruitment system will be at its center.
