Renault Triber-Based Nissan 7-Seater MPV Spied – What To Expect?

Nissan is gearing up for a major expansion in the Indian market with the launch of a new 7-seater B-segment MPV, expected sometime in 2026. The company, which currently has a limited presence in the mainstream passenger vehicle segment, plans to leverage the Renault-Nissan alliance to offer a value-driven product.

The new MPV has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time, wearing heavy camouflage. From what can be seen, it closely follows the design language of the Renault Triber, particularly the Triber facelift. The front fascia is likely to feature a big grille with a prominent Nissan badge and headlamps that integrate into the grille. C-shaped DRLs on the bumper, LED fog lamps, and 15-inch steel wheels designed to resemble alloys will also likely make the cut. Functional roof rails and a raised roofline for better third-row headroom are also visible.

Inside, the MPV is expected to share much of its cabin architecture with the Triber, including flexible third-row seating that can be removed easily. Features likely to be offered include a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, push-button start, and reclining second and third-row seats. Nissan will aim to add small touches to distinguish its model, similar to how it differentiates the Magnite from the Kiger.

Powering the MPV will likely be the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Triber, paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. There’s also a chance a turbocharged version could be offered in the future if Renault introduces it for the Triber. Production will take place at Nissan’s Chennai facility.

This MPV is part of a broader plan to strengthen Nissan’s presence in India. Alongside this, the company recently showcased the Tekton SUV to take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and is expected to bring a rebadged version of the Duster SUV by FY26. Overall, Nissan aims to introduce four new vehicles across B-, C-, and D-segment SUVs and MPVs in the coming years.
