Renault Kiger facelift launched at Rs 6.29 lakh with fresh design, upgrades

Renault India has launched the facelift of the Kiger, with prices starting at Rs 6.29 lakh and going up to Rs 11.29 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom).

This marks the compact SUV’s first major update since its debut in 2021 and also makes it the second model under Renault’s ongoing “Rethink” transformation strategy. The updated Kiger lineup is offered across four trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion.

On the outside, the updated Kiger gets a bolder, more upright front design with a sleek reflective black grille featuring Renault’s new logo, a revised bumper with a larger central air intake, a silver skid plate, and full LED fog lamps (on higher variants). It retains its split headlamp setup and DRLs, while the rear bumper has also been revised. The facelift further introduces a new dual-tone Oasis Yellow paint scheme alongside the existing nine colours – Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Caspian Blue, Radiant Red with Black Roof, Caspian Blue with Black Roof, Stealth Black, Moonlight Silver with Black Roof, Pearl White with Mystery Black, and Ice Cool White with Black Roof. Newly-designed 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels enhance its youthful and premium road presence.

Inside the cabin, Renault has focused on both comfort and technology. The Kiger now comes with a new Noir and Cool Grey interior theme, upgraded upholstery, and ventilated leatherette seats. A major new feature addition is a sunroof, while the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been upgraded with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other highlights include a multi-view camera, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a wireless charger, configurable drive modes with instrument cluster display, ambient lighting, an Arkamys-tuned audio system, automatic climate control, PM2.5 air filter, cooled glovebox, and driver’s side window auto up/down with anti-pinch.

In terms of practicality, Renault claims best-in-segment roominess, offering a 405-litre boot, 222mm of rear knee room, and 710mm distance between front seats. Noise insulation has also improved thanks to enhanced dash and cowl insulation, thicker floor carpets, and a more insulated A-pillar, leading to a noticeably quieter cabin.

Under the hood, the Kiger continues with its existing powertrain options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (72bhp/96Nm) and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (100bhp/160Nm). Both are E20 fuel-ready and come with a choice of a 5-speed manual, AMT, or CVT gearbox. A dealer-fitted CNG kit is also available with a 3-year warranty. Renault claims the turbo-petrol variant offers the best-in-segment torque-to-weight ratio and class-leading 0-100 km/h performance, while mileage figures rank second-best among turbo-petrol manual rivals.

Safety has been given a significant boost with six airbags now standard across the range, along with 21 active and passive safety features, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and roof rails capable of carrying up to 50kg. The Kiger also retains its 205mm ground clearance, making it suitable for both city commutes and rougher roads.

Adding to the launch buzz, Kush Maini, Alpine F2 Team driver and Monaco GP winner, took the updated Kiger for a spin and praised its driving dynamics. “It’s fun to drive, easy to change direction, holds its line in corners, and doesn’t roll much-it’s genuinely enjoyable,” he said.

With its competitive pricing (Rs 6.29 lakh – Rs 11.29 lakh), the Renault Kiger facelift strengthens its position in the sub-4m SUV segment, taking on rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Toyota Taisor, Maruti Fronx, and Skoda Kushaq.
