Now 2520 political parties left in the country
The Commission claims that all these parties did not even have offices. These parties were running only on paper. Also, he could not fulfill the mandatory condition of contesting the same election from 2019 to 6 years, while all these parties were told many times for this. After this move of the Election Commission, there are now 2520 political parties left in the country. Currently there are 6 national parties and 67 state level parties. Officials said that this process has been done with the aim of improving the political system and removing those parties from the list which have not participated in any Lok Sabha, State or Union Territory Assembly or by -elections since 2019.
Action was started in June
Explain that from June this year in the Election Commission, action was started against 345 political parties. After completion of the investigation, 334 parties have now been removed from the list. According to the Election Commission, since 2001, the Commission has removed such passive parties from the list three to four times. Earlier, the Supreme Court had stopped the Election Commission from canceling the recognition of such parties. The Commission then found a way to remove these parties from the list. After which these parties have been removed from the list, showing them passive.
Name can be added to the list again
A former official said that if the parties removed from the list go through a new recognition process by the Election Commission, they can be listed again.
