As part of its modernisation drive, India Post has announced that the iconic Registered Post service will be merged with Speed Post from 1 September 2025. This move comes after more than 50 years of Registered Post being a trusted and affordable service.

The Department of Posts says the integration aims to streamline mail operations, improve delivery timelines, and optimise logistics resources.
