After a series of teasers, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 series in China on January 29. The lineup will include the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which is set to debut with MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500s chipset, and the standard Turbo 5.

Alongside the series, Xiaomi is also preparing to introduce new accessories and a themed tablet edition.

Dimensity 9500s Makes Its Smartphone Debut

The will be the first smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s SoC.

According to Xiaomi, the chip is built on TSMC’s N3E process and features a CPU configuration that includes one Cortex-X925 core, three Cortex-X4 cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores, paired with the Mali Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU.

While real-world performance remains to be seen, the inclusion of a new flagship-class chipset positions the Turbo 5 Max as a performance-focused device within Xiaomi’s portfolio.

A 9000mAh Battery With Fast Charging

One of the most notable confirmed features of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max is its battery.

Xiaomi says the phone will pack a 9000mAh battery with 100W fast charging, PPS support, and 27W reverse wired charging. This makes it the first Xiaomi phone to combine such a large battery with high-speed charging in this way.

Xiaomi smartphone head Lu Weibing has described the Turbo 5 Max as a strong option in the 2.5K yuan price range for 2026 and suggested that the 9000mAh battery could challenge devices built around even larger battery capacities.

Design and Build Details

Xiaomi has also shared design elements of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

The phone is expected to feature large rounded corners, ultra-narrow bezels, a CNC metal frame, and a fibreglass rear finish. It will include a metal racetrack-shaped camera module and a double-ring turbine light strip, and will be available in a new Sea Breeze Blue colour.

What About the Standard Redmi Turbo 5?

Alongside the Turbo 5 Max, Xiaomi is also preparing the standard with a slightly different focus.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi Turbo 5 could feature a 6.5-inch LTPS flat display with 1.5K resolution, slightly smaller than the panel used on the previous Turbo 4. The device is also tipped to pack a larger 7,500mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging, marking a noticeable increase in capacity compared to its predecessor.

The leak further suggests that the phone may adopt a metal frame, an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, and an IP68 rating. It is also expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, which would represent an upgrade over the Dimensity 8400-Ultra used in the Turbo 4.

More Products at the Launch Event

The January 29 event will also include the launch of the Redmi Buds 8 Pro.

Xiaomi says the earbuds will feature dual 6.7mm piezoelectric ceramic drivers and an 11mm titanium-plated dynamic driver. They will support Xiaomi’s MIHC codec, LHDC-V5, and Hi-Res wireless audio.

The earbuds are also said to offer ultra-wideband noise cancellation with up to 55dB and 5kHz coverage, with adaptive noise cancellation that adjusts based on the environment.

In addition, Xiaomi plans to unveil the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Harry Potter Edition, featuring custom design elements such as a Hogwarts badge engraving and a themed storage bag.
