New Delhi: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced the temporary closure of the Red Fort for visitors from November 11 to November 13. The blast which occurred at Netaji Subhash Marg near Red Fort Chowk claimed nine lives and left over 20 injured.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Police Station requested the closure to facilitate ongoing forensic and security investigations. The letter stated that “the investigation of the scene of crime is in progress but yet to be completed,” and asked the ASI to keep the fort closed “for visitors for three days from 11/11/2025 to 13/11/2025.”
Heavy security deployed near Red Fort area
The explosion involved a Hyundai i20, also damaged several nearby vehicles and injured pedestrians. A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The area around the Red Fort has been cordoned off following the incident with bomb squads, forensic experts and National Security Guard (NSG) teams deployed at the site. A suspicious black bag was found near the Paharganj flyover.
Raids are underway across parts of Delhi and Faridabad to trace possible terror links.
Investigations underway
Meanwhile, a Pulwama connection has emerged in the Red Fort blast case, with three suspects being detained from Kashmir. Tariq Ahmad, Amar Rashid and Umar Rashid have been arrested with a possible Pulwama connection to them.
The Delhi police has also detained the mother and two brothers of Dr Umar U Nabi, the suicide bomber. He is also believed to be originally from Pulwama.
Search operations continue in Faridabad since early morning following the recovery of explosive and inflammable materials in the Dhauj police station limits.
