8 killed and 24 injured in car blast near Red Fort in Delhi. After the blast, nearby vehicles caught fire. After the incident, high alert has been issued in Delhi and security forces have cordoned off the area and started investigation.
Red Fort Blast Updates: An explosion took place in a car parked near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening. So far 8 people are reported dead in this blast, while 24 people are injured. Delhi Fire Service received information about the explosion near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort metro station at around 7 pm. Due to the explosion, vehicles parked nearby also caught fire.
High alert in Delhi after the blast
High alert has been issued in the national capital after the explosion near the Red Fort. This fort has been a symbol of governance in India for centuries from where the Prime Minister delivers the speech on India’s Independence Day on 15 August. This area is mostly very crowded and a large number of people can be seen here even in the videos going viral on social media.

The injured were admitted to NNJP Hospital.
According to reports, people injured in the bomb blast have been admitted to NNJP Hospital in Delhi. The blast was so powerful that it shattered the windows of vehicles parked several meters away and was heard in nearby buildings in the crowded area. Panic spread in the area as several vehicles were seen damaged at the spot after the massive blast. At present, teams of NIA and Delhi Police Special Cell are present at the spot.
Blast took place in Faridabad just after the busting of a major terrorist module.
There was no confirmation till 8 pm regarding the blasts near the Red Fort in Delhi, but this blast happened just hours after the recovery of about 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate and a cache of arms and ammunition from the rented house of a Kashmiri doctor in Faridabad, Haryana, adjacent to Delhi.
