New Delhi: Virat Kohli scaled the mark of 28,000 runs in international cricket on Sunday and is now second in the all-time scoring list behind Sachin Tendulkar.
Kohli is the third batter after Tendulkar (34,357, 644 innings) and former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara (28,016, 666 innings) to reach 28,000 runs and is the fastest at 624 innings.
After retiring from T20Is and Tests last year, Kohli represents the country only in ODIs and achieved the feat with his 25th run in the first ODI against New Zealand at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara.
Kohli is also second on the list on most centurions with 84 tons after Tendulkar (100).

With a half century on Sunday, Kohli has now scored 230 fifty-plus scores across formats, and is only behind Tendulkar (264).
The former skipper has also amassed over 14,500 runs, he is also second on the most ODI runs list behind Tendulkar (18,426), reaching the 14,000 mark in 287 innings to be the quickest.
Kohli is the only batter to have scored more than 50 centuries in the 50-over format (53).
