MNREGA made a new record under the leadership of Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh. More than 48 lakh families got employment in the financial year 2025-26, 31% were SC-ST beneficiaries. More than 97% wages were paid on time and the rural economy was strengthened by Rs 6703 crore.
The picture of rural employment is changing rapidly in Uttar Pradesh. From the fields to the village footpaths, the trust that was once wavering about work and wages now seems to be getting stronger. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, MNREGA is once again in the news due to the record figures related to employment, payments and social participation.
More than 48 lakh families got work
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), employment has been provided to more than 48 lakh families so far in the financial year 2025-26. The special thing is that more than 31 percent of these beneficiaries are from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category. This figure shows that the benefits of the scheme are reaching even that section of the society, which remained away from the mainstream for a long time.

More than 97 percent payment on time
The biggest complaint regarding MNREGA in rural areas was delay in payment, but this time the picture has changed. More than 97 percent workers have been paid wages on time in the financial year 2025-26. This has not only increased the confidence of the workers, but has also confirmed the transparency of the scheme.
New sources of income created from Rs 6703 crore
Yogi government has so far spent an amount of Rs 6703 crore under MNREGA. This investment has created water conservation, roads, ponds, land reclamation and other durable assets in the villages. These works not only provided temporary employment but also created permanent sources of income in rural areas.
Special priority to SC-ST families
Along with employment, respect is also considered important in the government policy. Under this, special priority is being given to Scheduled Caste and Tribe families in MNREGA. The effect of this has been that the economic condition of these sections has improved and migration from rural areas has also stopped to a great extent.
Rural economy is getting stronger
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, MNREGA is becoming a strong base for inclusive development in the state. Work in villages, timely payment and pace of development works have given new strength to the rural economy. Lakhs of families are moving towards self-reliance and the rural model of Uttar Pradesh seems to be becoming an example for the country.
