New Delhi: French forward Kylian Mbappe has filed a legal complaint against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and has accused his former club of moral harassment. The Real Madrid star has also argued that the Ligue 1 giants owe him €55 million ($61m) in unpaid wages.
The forward is also unhappy with the way he was treated in the club during the 2023-24 season when he was made to train with players the Ligue 1 giants looked to release.
Mbappe opined that he was treated unfairly by the club after he refused to sign a contract extension with PSG. He was also dropped from the 2023 pre-season tour for the same reason. His relationship with the club ended amid deep tensions as the fans booed him during his last home game at Parc des Princes.
He informed the French club that he would not take the option to extend his contract for an extra year and eventually made the switch to the Spanish club Real Madrid on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The French club said that they would rather move him than let him leave for free in 2024, but Mbappe rejected a €300m ($351.4m) transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. The club left him out of the opening league game of that season, but he soon returned to the lineup after talks with PSG.
His legal team said in April that they would take action against PSG for harassment because of the way he was treated at the time.
When will Kylian Mbappe return to action?
The forward missed Real Madrid’s last group-stage match against RB Salzburg. The Spanish club won the match by 3-0 and will face Juventus in the round of 16 clash on July 2. The France captain lost 5kg in hospital due to gastroenteritis and joined his team-mates in training again on Wednesday, and is likely to feature in the club’s knockout match of the tournament.
