Despite the low budget, RCB made smart purchases in the IPL mini auction. They bought Venkatesh Iyer for 7 crores and Mangesh Yadav for 5.20 crores. These players will strengthen the team as backup to the key players.
Bengaluru: Current champion Royal Challengers Bangalore had entered this time’s IPL mini auction with a very low budget. Before the mini auction, RCB had retained its key players. Therefore, they were left with only Rs 16.40 crore for the auction. Its effect was visible right at the beginning of the auction. Despite the low budget, the RCB franchise has managed to buy some star players thoughtfully. In this mini auction, RCB has succeeded in buying backup players for Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar. The special thing is that in this mini auction, RCB franchise showed more interest in the players of Madhya Pradesh.
RCB finally bought Venkatesh Iyer
There was great curiosity in this time’s mini auction as to which players the current champion RCB will buy in its low budget. In the last IPL mega auction, the RCB franchise had competed with KKR to buy Venkatesh Iyer, but backed out at the last moment. It is being said that Venkatesh Iyer has been bought as a backup to Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar.
Apart from this, Kiwi player Jacob Duffy has been bought for Rs 2 crore as a backup to Josh Hazlewood. At the same time, Madhya Pradesh’s left arm fast bowler Mangesh Yadav has been bought for Rs 5.20 crore. Mangesh Yadav has been taken as the backup to Yash Dayal. Apart from these, India Under-19 stars Kanishk Chauhan and Vihaan Malhotra have been bought for Rs 30 lakh each. Also, 18-year-old Satwik Deshwal and Vicky Kaushal from Puducherry have also been bought for Rs 30 lakh each. And England wicketkeeper-batsman Jordan Cox has been bought for Rs 75 lakh.
