(RCB) Director of Cricket Mo Bobat has revealed why the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 champions didn’t show interest in Mohammed Siraj in the 2025 auction, held in Jeddah.
RCB held the Right to Match (RTM) option in the IPL 2025 auction but didn’t utilise it. Eventually, Gujarat Titans (GT) outbid Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the business event to sign up Siraj for INR 12.25 Crore. Siraj was a vital member of RCB from 2014 to 2018 and during this period, he bagged 83 wickets in 87 matches at an economy of 8.60. With these numbers, he is the second-leading wicket-taker for Bengaluru.
Recently, Mo Bobat had a chat with Cricbuzz and revealed that Bengaluru were eager to reserve the services of veteran speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar so it was difficult for the franchise to get Siraj back to the team. ‘We were keen to try and get Bhuvneshwar Kumar and we felt like hanging on to would make it difficult to get Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar),’ remarked Bobat. Siraj went on to serve Titans in IPL 2025 and took 16 wickets in 15 contests at an economy of 9.24.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar made crucial contributions to RCB’s maiden title triumph
Pacer Bhuvenshwar Kumar was snapped up by RCB at an amount of INR 10.75 Crore in the IPL 2025 auction. The 35-year-old played an instrumental role in RCB’s maiden trophy win. He bagged 17 wickets in 14 matches at an economy of 9.28.
Allying with Josh Hazlewood, he formed a formidable fast-bowling pair which delivered impactful results. Both veterans while playing together picked up 39 wickets. Hazlewood ended up as the third-highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 12 outings at an economy of 8.77.
