The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given a big update on a 2,000 rupee note on Friday. The Reserve Bank said that even after 2 years of being removed from the trend, the notes of Rs 6,017 crore are still in trend. Two thousand rupees bank notes still remain a valid currency. On May 19, 2023, RBI announced the withdrawal of a 2,000 rupee bank note from circulation.
The RBI said in a statement that the total value of bank notes of Rs 2,000 present in the trend till May 19 2023 was Rs 3.56 lakh crore, which has come down to Rs 6,017 crore by 31 July 2025. In this way, 98.31 percent of the bank notes of Rs 2,000, which remained in trend till 19 May 2023, has returned. The facility of replacing two thousand rupees bank note is available in 19 issue offices of Reserve Bank from May 19, 2023.
2,000 notes can be deposited in this way
Since 9 October 2023, the release office of the Reserve Bank is also accepting Rs 2,000 bank note to deposit in their bank accounts from individuals/institutions. Apart from this, people are sending 2,000 rupee notes from any post office of the country to any issue of RBI to deposit 2,000 rupee notes in their bank accounts. These issues are in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
