On Thursday, the cricketer has signed a deal with Sydney Thunder for the upcoming session. With this, Ashwin has become the first Indian player to participate in this cricket tournament to be held in Australia. Till date no Indian cricketer participated in BBL. Ashwin recently announced his retirement from the IPL. Before that, the Indian cricket team also said goodbye.
Ravichandran Ashwin held Sydney Thunder’s hand in BBL
Ravichandran Ashwin is going to be part of the Sydney Thunder Team in the upcoming season of Big Bash League. Ashwin, 39, will be seen playing in the second half of BBL to be held from 14 December 2025 to 25 January 2026. They will not be available with the team for the first half. There was already news about Ashwin that he is going to take an entry in this cricket league. Now it has also been officially confirmed.

Apart from this, Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copland has described this deal with Ashwin as the biggest agreement in the history of the Big Bash League. Copland said that,

BCCI does not approve the league in another country

As long as those players are associated with the Indian cricket team and the Indian Premier League, they are not allowed to play the league by going to other countries. Since, R Ashwin retired from all formats, he has chosen this decision according to his own.
