Ravi Shastri Makes Bold Remark On Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli’s Legacy After Perth Failure, Says…

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, who coached Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in their heyday, is more aware than most of the two batters’ extraordinary abilities both at home and overseas, particularly in Australian conditions.

The ICC website states that Shastri thinks the illustrious pair would not lessen their legacy by carrying on with their careers.

“The contribution is not over two or three years. The contribution is over a decade, a decade and a half in the case of Virat. It’s massive and people don’t forget that. And they’ve played against some of the best bowlers that have been part of the game. It’s special. Their legacy will remain. Whether they finish tomorrow or they finish the day after or whenever. That legacy will remain,” Shastri said.

In the past 18 months, Rohit and Kohli have already retired from Test and T20I cricket, leaving ODI cricket as the sole format in which they still play for India. The two played against Australia in Perth on Sunday, marking their eagerly awaited comeback to international cricket since the ICC Champions Trophy Final in March.

Having trained Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma throughout their prime, former India head coach Ravi Shastri is better aware than most of the two batters’ exceptional skills both domestically and abroad, especially in Australian conditions. Shastri believes the legendary duo would not diminish their reputation by continuing their careers, according to the ICC website.

The only cricket format in which Rohit and Kohli still play for India is ODI cricket, as they have already retired from Test and T20I cricket in the last 18 months. The two made their long-awaited return to international cricket since the ICC Champions Trophy Final in March on Sunday when they played Australia in Perth.
