Ravan Death Mystery: Ravana was the conqueror of Trilok. There was no one in the world who was a greater devotee of Shiva than him. He cut off his head and offered it to Lord Shankar. Ravana was a very knowledgeable and scholar. Many important events took place during the time of Lord Rama in Tretayuga. One of these important events is the death of Ravana.

Ravana had committed many sins. So where did his soul go after death? Is Ravana’s soul wandering in some world even today? This question often comes to mind, so let us know about it in detail.

Vibhishan had refused to allow the last rites to be performed.

According to one account, after Ravana’s death, when it came to his last rites, Lord Shri Ram asked Vibhishan to perform his last rites, but Vibhishan flatly refused to do so. Vibhishan said that Ravana was evil and a sinner. He will neither perform the last rites of such a person nor is he forced to do so as per the scriptures.

After this, Lord Rama explained to Vibhishana that with the death of Ravana, all his sins have ended. The dead person has the right to be cremated. All the deeds of the deceased person should be forgiven after his death. After the persuasion of Lord Ram, Vibhishana respectfully cremated his brother’s body and prayed for the peace of his soul.

Ravana’s soul went to Vaikuntha Loka

According to religious beliefs, Ravana’s soul went to Vaikuntha Loka (heaven) after being killed by Lord Rama, because Ravana was an advisor of Lord Narayana and was trapped in the cycle of birth and death due to the curse of Sankadik sages. After attaining salvation he returned to his original form. Today he is not wandering in any world, but has become free from the bondage of birth and death.
