Rashmika Mandanna wraps India’s first female-led underwater fight sequence for ‘Mysaa’

Actress Rashmika Mandanna has completed what the makers claim is India’s first female-led underwater fight sequence for Rawindra Pulle’s upcoming film , the filmmaker announced on Thursday.

The photos he shared show moments from the film’s underwater shoot. Rashmika performed all the stunts in the sequence herself, without an action double.

The first photo in the carousel shows Rashmika in a wetsuit, surrounded by divers as she listens to instructions before filming the sequence. The actor and the dive team are partially submerged in the water.

According to a press release, Rashmika spent nearly 20 hours underwater over two days to complete the sequence.

The second photo offers a glimpse of Rashmika in character, revealing scars on her back.

“India’s First Female Underwater Fight Sequence, led by @rashmika_mandanna The Surface Was Never the Limit. Beneath the depths lies a battle unlike anything Indian cinema has seen. Get ready to witness the fury,” the Pulle captioned his post on Instagram.

 

 

 

 

Mysaa will mark Rashmika’s first solo headliner film. Sharing her experience of filming the sequence on Instagram Stories, Rashmika said it was the toughest challenge of her career so far.

“I know I’ve been MIA but this is what we’ve been doing.. This is by far the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in life! We are crazy for this but that’s what’s gotten me so so excited! Let’s goooo! #Mysaa.”

 The first look of Mysaa, unveiled in July 2025, showed Rashmika in an intense avatar, roaring at the camera with blood splattered across her body and a weapon in hand.
