Rashid Khan becomes first bowler in history to complete 650 wickets in T20s

New Delhi: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has scripted history by becoming the first bowler in world cricket to complete 650 wickets in T20s. Rashid achieved the glorious feat during the opening match of The Hundred on August 5 at the iconic Lord’s stadium in London.

During the match for Oval Invincibles, the wrist-spinner claimed three wickets restricting opposition London Spirit to 80 in 94 balls. He claimed the wickets of Wayne Madsen, Liam Dawson and Ryan Higgins to register figures of 3/11 in 20 balls and after dismissing Dawson lbw for just 1, he completed the landmark.

The Afghanistan spinner thus became the first player to the glorious feat with 651 wickets to his name from 478 innings at an impressive average of over 18 and four five-wicket hauls to his name. Because of his his incredible bowling, the Oval Invincibles started their title defence on a stupendous note as they won the match by six wickets.

Batter Will Jacks (24 off 24), Tawanda Muyeye (18 off 20) and Sam Curran (14 off 9) emerged as top scorers for Invincibles as they chased down the target in just 69 balls. For taking his team to the win, Rashid was adjudged the Hero of the Match as he once against displayed his bowling prowess. Earlier in the Shpadeeza Cricket League, the terrifying bowler, who has great skills with the bat as well, had claimed 4/19 for Speen Ghar Tigers.

Rashid, who has rose to form again, did have the best of the outings in the Indian Premier League 2025. Rashid claimed just nine wickets from 15 matches at an average of above 15 and an economy of over 9. His best figures were 2/25 representing Gujarat Titans (GT). The ace bowler would be hoping to continue his brilliant run in the Hundred and further international assignments leading up to the IPL 2026.
