Hansal Mehta said in an interview to The Hollywood Reporter India, “This is not an adaptation of any kind. Jai and Vishal Kapoor have written the original story. It is not easy to adapt a book like ‘Blindness’ into a film. I had seen the 2008 film, it was not special. Writers like Saramago or Salman Rushdie look better on paper, the magic of their books gets lost in cinema.”
