Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda landed his first Hollywood role in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo’s film Extraction, where he shared screen space with Avengers star Chris Hemsworth.

Randeep played a major character and also got substantial screen time in the film. However, in a recent interaction, the actor complained about how his meaty role in the Hollywood flick was completely ignored by the Hindi film industry, with none lauding him publicly.

Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, he said, “I didn’t get any appreciation from Bollywood but people who watched Extraction lauded me. I had various fan moments.”

The actor admitted that while Bollywood ignored him, he received appreciation from South filmmakers. “When I worked with filmmakers in the Telugu cinema…many action directors have seen the film and want to emulate the same and they even ask me how we did it in Extraction. That sense of respect is there. But nobody talked about it. Even for small roles in Hollywood films people do so much campaign and people also congratulate them,” he said.

While Randeep admitted that his PR might be weak, he also shared that people feel threatened by his success. “I feel people feel threatened and I didn’t get appreciation from film fraternity for any role and I don’t need it after a point of time. I am doing my work and trying to better myself and not compete with myself. I appreciate myself,” he said.

He added, “I don’t know why people didn’t appreciate me publicly. But I am not sad about it. When they meet, they meet nicely and they will call me but they don’t talk about it publicly. I also didn’t get any big award for acting.”

While Extraction received mixed reviews, it became the most-watched original film on Netflix. It also starred Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour in key roles.
