Randeep Hooda had an interesting conversation with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day on various aspects of his life and career. He revealed that he’s a very close friend of fellow actor Amit Sial and that he knew him even before their struggling phase.Randeep Hooda opens up on his long association with Raid 2 actor Amit Sial: ‘We were roommates and cabbies in Australia’; reveals why he THREW him out of his Mumbai house at 2:00 am: ‘He was upset with me for MANY years’
Randeep revealed, ‘Amit and I were roommates and cabbies in Australia. He was also inclined towards acting. We used to lie on the bonnet of my cab, smoke cigarettes and say, ‘Ek din actor banenge’! When I got a role in D (2005), I called him and said, ‘Ram Gopal Varma is making D. Tu aa jaa. Tujhe role dilwata hoon’. He was running a small eatery called Chicken Kitchen I think in Noida by then. I told him ‘Shut off your business and come here’! But since I was rooting for Amit, that is why the director (Vishram Sawant) didn’t cast him in the movie.’
Amit Sial had no choice but to be dependent on Randeep Hooda after this turn of events. Randeep continued, ‘Hence, he used to live with me in my place or many, many places where we used to end up for the night. One night, I threw him out of my house at 2:00 am. I looked at him and said, ‘Look, if you stay here, you’ll be my shadow and that’s the worst thing I want for you as a friend’. He was very upset with me for many years. But yeah, I threw him out of the house at 2 in the night. I told him, ‘Go find your destiny’ and he did. We’ve been friends since then.’
Interestingly, Randeep Hooda cast Amit Sial in his directorial debut, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (2024). While Randeep played the lead role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Amit essayed the role of his brother, Ganesh Damodar Savarkar.
Recently, both were also appreciated for their various films. Randeep got a lot of accolades for playing the villain in Jaat. A week later, Kesari Chapter 2 featured Amit in a crucial role for which he was lauded. However, he got even more praise for being the surprise package in Raid 2.
