Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor recently shared a heartfelt childhood memory involving megastar Amitabh Bachchan during a Diwali special episode of the popular quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Ranbir recounted his initial impressions of the legendary actor from the sets of the 1991 film ‘Ajooba’, a fantasy film directed by Shashi Kapoor.
Expressing deep reverence, Ranbir stated, “Sir, first of all, I would like to say that there have been only two people in my life whose eyes I cannot look into while talking… one was my father and the other is you.” He smiled as he recalled visiting the sets as a child: “I remember… I grew up in front of you, but when I came to the sets during the shooting of ‘Ajooba’ as a child… So, I saw this tall man, whom Gen Z today would call ‘aura farming:’ it all started with him… When he entered a room, it felt as though someone had arrived, bringing his entire aura along.”
Ranbir Kapoor shares a unique connection with Amitabh Bachchan, mirroring the bond Big B had with Ranbir’s late father, Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir worked with Amitabh in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ (2022) and previously assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on ‘Black’ (2005), which starred Bachchan. Amitabh and Rishi Kapoor shared memorable screen space in several iconic films, including ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ (1976), ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ (1977), ‘Naseeb’ (1981), ‘Coolie’ (1983), ‘Ajooba’ (1991), and ‘102 Not Out’ (2018), cementing their cinematic legacy.
