Late legend Raj Kapoor’s grandson Aadar Jain recently addressed the ongoing debate on nepotism in Bollywood. The actor, who is the cousin of Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, firmly stated that he does not consider himself a “product of nepotism.” He explained that his career journey has been far from easy and has included its fair share of challenges.
Aadar added that he has had to work hard to earn every opportunity that has come his way, despite belonging to a film family.
Aadar Jain Says He’s NOT ‘Product Of Nepotism’
Aadar, the youngest son of Rima Jain, also said that the significant gap between his projects was not by choice. He shared that it has been difficult to find work and that having a film family background does not guarantee easy opportunities in the industry.
“People talk about nepotism, but I’ve not got benefits of it. Yes, I am Raj Kapoor’s grandson, I am Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin, but that doesn’t allow me to get 50 films a year or like doing five films and signing brand deals and endorsements nonstop. Unfortunately, in that sense I’ve not been a product of nepotism,” he told ETimes.
“It’s not been easy,” he admitted and “It has been a struggle. I have auditioned for a lot of places. I’ve been rejected many times. It’s hard to deal with those rejections. I love what I do. So, when you’re not getting to do what you love as often, of course, it hurts. The idea is to keep picking yourself up and pushing yourself.
Jain said he views all the rejections in his career as lessons and has no regrets. He shared that it took him a long time to land his third project, noting that many new actors today already have multiple films lined up even before their debut releases.
