Actor Ranbir Kapoor has publicly apologized for remarks he made at a Dussehra event in Kolkata, which had sparked considerable discussion online.
Speaking in Chennai, Kapoor clarified that his earlier statement was a “slip of tongue” and aimed to convey a message about the triumph of good over evil.
During the Kolkata Dussehra celebration, held under the theme ‘Ram Er Ayodhya – Ram Ki Ayodhya’ at Salt Lake, Kapoor had stated, “Burai kitni bhi takatvar kyun na ho, aakhir mei ant sachai aur achai ki hi hoti hai.” Videos of this statement quickly went viral.
Addressing the matter in Chennai, Kapoor explained his intended message: “What I meant to say is, ‘Burai chahe kitni bhi takatvar kyun na ho, aakhir mei jeet achai aur sachai ki hoti hai’.” He added a touch of self-deprecating humor, quoting a line from his film ‘Rockstar’, “Jo bhi kehna chahun, barbad karein alfaz mere” (Whatever I wish to say, my words ruin it).
Kapoor was accompanied by his ‘Ramayana’ co-star Sai Pallavi at the Chennai event. This clarification comes amidst anticipation for the upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’, where Ranbir Kapoor is slated to play Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is envisioned as a two-part series, with the first part scheduled for a November 5, 2026 release.
