Pakistan began their Test Series against South Africa on a positive note when they defeated the visitors comprehensively by a margin of 93 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
This was a good win for the home side, as they gained significant movement in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table, surpassing India to take the 2nd spot. Despite this good showing on the field, ex-Pakistan players Ramiz Raja and Aamir Sohail, who were on commentary during the Test match, shamelessly took a dig at Team India for the no-handshake stance that they took during the Asia Cup 2025.
After the first Test got over, the South Africa players shook hands with the Pakistan players, as is the general custom. However, during the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav, refused to shake hands with any of the Pakistan players on all the three occassions that they faced each other in the tournament. This was in protest of the Pahalgam terror attacks.
Ramiz Raja, Aamir Sohail Shamelessly Slam India
After the teams shook hands in Lahore, Aamir Sohail and Ramiz Raja took shameless digs at India without naming them. In fact, Ramiz Raja even decided to indirectly question the sanity of the Indian team, as he said that it was important for the Proteas to remain sane.
“Good to see both teams shaking hands. It’s getting out of fashion these days,” Aamir Sohail said.
“It’s getting out of hand,” Ramiz Raja replied.
“It’s a great tradition. And well, cricket is about tradition, being gentlemanly, about being fair. It’s important for South Africa to be sane,” Raja further went on to say.
India Continue No-Handshake Stance In Women’s World Cup 2025
India defeated Pakistan by 89 runs in the crucial group stage match of the Women’s World Cup 2025 which took place on October 5 (Sunday) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The Indian team continued the ‘no-handshake’ stance against Pakistan, the precedent of which was set by Suryakumar Yadav and his team at the Asia Cup 2025.
First, captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not shake hands with her Pakistan counterpart Fatima Sana during the toss. After the match got over, the Indian team returned to their dugout and turned down the customary handshakes.
