New Vice President of India Name Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned as Vice President, citing health reasons on Monday evening. The Election Commission on Friday appointed Rajya Sabha General Secretary PC Modi as Election Officer for the election of the post of Vice President, which was vacated after the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar.
The Election Commission said in a statement that after consulting the Ministry of Law and Justice and after the consent of the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, it has appointed PC Modi as Election Officer for the election of the post of Vice President of 2025. The Election Commission has also appointed Joint Secretary, Rajya Sabha Secretariat Garima Jain and Rajya Sabha Secretariat Director Vijay Kumar as Assistant Election Officer during the election.

He has played various public responsibilities ranging from councilor to Union Minister of State and Governor. Ramesh Bais was born on 2 August 1947 in Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and also received his education in Raipur.
In the year 1978, he was first elected as a councilor of Raipur Municipal Corporation. From 1980 to 1985, he was an elected member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Council. In the year 1989, Bais entered Parliament for the first time by winning the election from Raipur Lok Sabha seat and after that he set a record for being elected Lok Sabha MP from Raipur seven consecutive times. In 1998, he was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Steel and Mines in the government of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. During 1999 to 2004, he was the first Minister of State in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, then the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In 2003, he was appointed as Minister of State with Independent Charge in the Ministry of Mining and the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
From 2009 to 2014, the Chief Whip of the Bharatiya Janata Party was in Bais Lok Sabha. From 2014 to 2019, he was the chairman of the Standing Committee of Parliament on Social Justice and Empowerment in the 16th Lok Sabha. During this, he did remarkable work on the rights of the disabled and transgender persons. On 29 July 2019, Ramesh Bais was appointed as the Governor of Tripura, where he served till 13 July 2021.
