Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra`s Ramayana has been making headlines ever since it was announced. The rumours surrounding the film have often been making the rounds, keeping the hype around it intact.
Recently, the buzz around the magnum opus intensified after the makers released a three-minute-long first glimpse of the film. The as Lord Ram, Yash as the fierce Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, has left fans eager for its release. Amid the growing buzz, reports revealing the jaw-dropping fees of the cast have been making rounds.
Ranbir Kapoor Ramayana fees
According to a Filmfare report, Ranbir Kapoor is allegedly charging a whopping amount of Rs 75 crore for each part of Ramayana. For the unversed, the film will be released in two parts. This makes his total remuneration for playing Lord Rama as Rs 150 crore. Meanwhile, Sai, who portrays the role of Sita, has reportedly charged Rs 6 crore per part, making it Rs 12 crore in total. It is believed that she has increased her fees for this one.
Talking of the budget, the Ramayana franchise is being made on a massive budget of Rs 1600 crore. This makes it one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema. A Bollywood Hungama report claims that a source close to producer Namit Malhotra revealed that Ramayana Part 1 is being made on a budget of Rs 900 crore, while Part 2 is estimated at Rs 700 crore.
Prabhas` fees in Adipurush
Ever since the first glimpse of Ramayana was launched, there have been several comparisons drawn to Prabhas-starrer Adipurush, which also showed the epic story of Ramayana. Many have been criticising Adipurush, which was a flop when it was released in 2023, once again after looking at the first look of Ramayana.
If the star fees were to be compared, Prabhas, one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema, reportedly charged Rs 150 crore for his role in the movie Adipurush. This makes Ranbir`s fees for Ramayana equivalent to Prabhas` in 2023`s Adipurush. Adipurush was directed by Om Raut and was also based on the mythological epic Ramayana.
Besides, Adipurush was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 500−700 crore (USD−83 million), making it one of the most expensive Indian films back then.
