The much-awaited Ramayana has taken another major step in its promotional journey with the release of its first song, ‘Jai Jai Ram’, in Telugu. The soulful devotional track marks the beginning of the film’s musical journey and offers audiences an emotional glimpse into the world created by director Nitesh Tiwari.
‘Jai Jai Ram’ is presented as a musical invocation of Shri Ram, blending the spiritual essence of an aarti with a cinematic soundscape. The lyrics focus on Shri Ram’s compassion, protection and commitment to dharma, while the repeated chanting of his name forms the devotional heart of the song.
Namit Malhotra on Jai Jai Ram
Filmmaker and producer Namit Malhotra said Shri Ram remains at the heart of Ramayana and continues to serve as a source of strength and guidance for generations.
According to Malhotra, although the film is being mounted on a grand scale, its foundation lies in emotion, values and devotion. He said the team wanted the first song to capture the spiritual soul of the story and portray Shri Ram as a protector, guide and source of inner strength.
A.R. Rahman on the Song
Music composer A.R. Rahman explained that the central idea behind ‘Jai Jai Ram’ is the simple and powerful repetition of Shri Ram’s name.
The composer said the musical approach was to retain the purity and intimacy of a prayer while allowing the composition to evolve into a cinematic song. Deepali Sahay and Raghav Kaushik lend their voices to the track, with lyrics penned by Rakendu Mouli.
Rahman expressed hope that the song would offer listeners both a sense of peace and a personal emotional connection.
Rakendu Mouli Talks About the Lyrics
Lyricist Rakendu Mouli said the three words ‘Jai Jai Ram’ may be simple, but carry the essence of a complete prayer.
He explained that his intention was not to define or describe Shri Ram through elaborate words, but to express the relationship devotees share with him—as a guide, strength and refuge. The lyrics have therefore been kept simple and direct to allow listeners to connect with the devotional emotion in their own way.
Ramayana Trailer Creates Global Buzz
The release of ‘Jai Jai Ram’ follows the strong global response to the Ramayana trailer, which reportedly crossed one billion digital views across platforms within six days.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures is distributing the film globally, excluding India.
Ramayana Part One is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026, with the film being positioned as one of the biggest Indian cinematic spectacles currently in production.
