Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor is shaping up to be one of the biggest Hindi films in years. The first teaser has already excited fans.
Ranbir plays Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash of KGF fame as Ravana. Other key characters include Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodri, and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha.
According to reports, Kunal Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan’s son-in-law, plays Indra and shares an intense battle sequence with Yash’s Ravana.
Previously, Kunal exclusively spoke to News18 and said,“This is a very important film in our cultural history. It’s a really important part of our cultural ethos. I think it’s important that you have filmmakers and people to give it the kind of scale it needs. This is mounted at a scale that we’ve never seen before.”
He explained, “It is going to be something very special that deserves the kind of movie that the story should have. I am very excited about it. I think the audience is going to be surprised by what they see.”
But how is Kunal Kapoor Amitabh Bachchan’s son-in-law?
Kunal Kapoor, who plays Indra, is married to Naina Bachchan, the daughter of Ajitabh Bachchan (Amitabh Bachchan’s younger brother) and Ramola Bachchan. Unlike his superstar brother Amitabh, Ajitabh is a businessman based in London. Along with Naina, Ajitabh and Ramola are parents to Bhim, Namrata, and Nilima Bachchan.
When will Ramayana hit theatres?
The film will be released in two parts, during Diwali 2026 and 2027. The film is being made on a massive budget estimated to be between Rs 1,600 crore and Rs 4,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever.
