Ramayan Story: Lord Shri Ram had married Mother Sita from Janakpur and brought her to Ayodhya. Ayodhya city was decorated with lamps and flowers at that time. In this ritual, the veil of the new bride is removed for the first time and her face is shown to the elders and relatives of the family. In return, family elders and relatives give gifts to the newlywed bride.

Then one by one the women of the royal family and friends of Lord Ram came. Everyone saw the face of Mother Sita and gifted her jewels studded with gems, beautiful clothes and gold and silver utensils. Mother respected everyone and took blessings and thanked them.
Mother Janaki gave the responsibility of the entire family to mother Kaushalya. Mother Sumitra dedicated her sons Lakshman and Shatrughan to the service and protection of Sita ji. Mother Kaikeyi gifted a grand golden palace, which was known as Kanak Bhawan. In the end, everyone’s eyes were fixed on Shri Ram, what gift would he give to Sita ji? Lord Shri Ram came in front of Sita ji. The Lord was calm and gentle.
Shri Ram gave this promise to Mata Sita
There was a smile on his face. Love and dedication were visible. He slowly lifted Sita ji’s veil. Then the Lord gave him such a promise which made Shri Ram ‘Maryada Purushottam’. The Lord said, Sita, from today onwards I promise that in this and in any other life I will not accept any woman other than you as my wife. I will observe the vow of one wife. No matter what the circumstances are.”
