New Delhi: Around 500 saints and religious leaders are set to march towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in Delhi on August 10, seeking a fair and high-level investigation into allegations of donation irregularities linked to the Ram Temple.
The march will be led by Computer Baba and Prakashanand Giri Maharaj.
The saints plan to begin the march at 11 am from near the Nepal Embassy at Mandi House and proceed towards the Prime Minister’s residence. They will seek to peacefully submit a memorandum to PM Modi, urging an impartial probe into the alleged donation scam.
“It is respectfully submitted that over 500 revered saints, mahants and Mahamandaleshwars from across the country will peacefully submit a memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, protesting the alleged misappropriation/theft of donations related to the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” organisers of the protest arch said in a press release.
“Through the memorandum, the saints will demand a fair and high-level investigation into the alleged misappropriation/theft of donations related to the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, along with strict legal action against those found guilty,” they added.
The protest march is taking place on the day when the Supreme Court will again hear a plea seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged embezzlement of donation funds of the Ram Temple.
Notably, the Congress on Monday demanded a discussion on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case in the Lok Sabha. Congress MP KC Venugopal urged the Lower House to direct the Centre to institute a high-level, independent inquiry under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge.
KC Venugopal moved an adjournment motion notice, alleging an “organised racket” operating within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
He submitted, “There is an urgent need to discuss the shocking revelations of massive financial fraud, theft, and embezzlement of public donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Recent reports indicate a highly organised racket operating within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, where bundles of cash and valuable jewellery donated by millions of devoted citizens have been systematically siphoned off.”
He termed the ongoing Special Investigating Team (SIT) probe into the alleged theft as a “mere eyewash targeting only low-level outsourced staff, while potentially shielding powerful individuals who masterminded this multi-crore embezzlement.”
“The House must discuss this grave sacrilege and direct the Union Government to institute a high-level, independent inquiry, under the supervision of a Supreme Court Judge–capable of investigating powerful entities–to uncover the whole truth, safeguard the sacred offerings, and ensure strict accountability,” the notice read.
