ram sita marriage
Vivah Panchami 2025: Every year, Vivah Panchami falls on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month, which this time is on 25th November. This date is celebrated as the marriage anniversary of Lord Ram and Mother Sita. According to mythological belief, in the Swayamvar of Mother Sita, her father King Janak had set a condition which was impossible for even the great kings to fulfill. If Lord Ram is unable to fulfill this condition, then he does not marry Mother Sita. But in the end Lord Ram had fulfilled this condition. Let us know what that condition was.
King Janak placed this condition
King Janak had taken a vow for the marriage of his daughter Sita that whoever would pick up the heavy bow of Lord Shiva (also known as Pinak Dhanush) and string it, the marriage of his daughter Sita would be solemnized with him. King Janak had made this condition in Mother Sita’s Swayamvar because in her childhood, Sita herself had lifted that huge bow with one hand, due to which Janak thought that only an extraordinary and powerful man could be a worthy groom for his daughter.
Shri Ram had to fulfill the condition
If Lord Ram could not fulfill the condition of King Janak, then he would not have been able to marry Mother Sita. Lord Rama successfully lifted the Pinaka bow and by breaking it fulfilled the condition of King Janak, only after which he got married to Mother Sita.
failure of many heroes
Many kings and warriors participated in the Swayamvar of Mother Sita and tried to lift the Pinaka bow, but no one could even lift that heavy bow. One after another the warriors and kings failed to lift the bow. At last Lord Rama picked it up, climbed on it and broke the bow in the middle. This was proof of his extraordinary strength and divinity. The breaking of Pinaka not only symbolized the victory of Swayamvara, but it also symbolized the establishment of Dharma and the unification of Vishnu-Lakshmi.
