Rakshit Shetty–Rashmika past resurfaces: ‘Past relationships don’t define loyalty’ says actress’ supporter

New Delhi: Superstar Rashmika Mandanna’s love life is still a hot topic in Karnataka, even though her broken engagement with Rakshit Shetty happened well over a decade ago. Now that she has married co‑star Vijay Deverakonda, some social‑media users are dragging her past again, calling her “disloyal” to her Kannada roots.

But one Kannada woman has hit back hard, defending Rashmika’s right to choose her own partner and calling these attacks senseless and outdated.  Dig inside for more information on the issue.

Old rumour, fresh trolls

Rashmika Mandanna and Rakshit Shetty first worked together in the 2016 film Kirik Party, where their on‑screen chemistry as Karan and Sanvi made fans hope they might also be a couple off‑screen. Reports later claimed the two had even got engaged, then called it off for reasons that have never been clearly explained. Even after many years, some people keep bringing up that old story, especially now that Rashmika has married Vijay Deverakonda, and they are openly trolling her for leaving Rakshit.

 Viral offensive post

A widely shared post on social media declared, “Even if Rakshit Shetty forgives Rashmika, the Kannada people will never forgive her,” implying that the actress betrayed Kannada culture by choosing a Telugu partner. This line angered many fans, but instead of staying silent, a Kannada woman named Sandhya stepped forward with a strong reply.

A local fan’s sharp defence

Sandhya shot back at the anonymous poster, saying, “You talk about ‘Kannada people,’ but I am also a Kannada person. There are only a few dissatisfied souls like you; most of us are not like that.” She pointed out, “You are dragging a 10–12‑year‑old incident like a rubber band, reopening it again and again.” She added, “Every time you pull Rashmika back to the witness box, you keep cursing her, but I don’t think like you. I wish her only good.”

 Why engagement break‑ups are normal

Sandhya also reminded troll‑makers that divorce is common even in middle‑class arranged families, so “Why carry a broken engagement against her forever?” She said using an old broken engagement as a reason to attack Rashmika “makes no sense at all.” With this, she made it clear that Rashmika’s choice of life partner is her personal decision, not a crime against any language or region.
