Raksha Bandhan Traffic Advisory: Delhi Police Advise Commuters To Avoid THESE Roads

Raksha Bandhan Traffic Advisory: With Raksha Bandhan falling on a weekend this year, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory ahead of the festival, warning of heavy outbound traffic from the city. They anticipate a significant surge in vehicles on major routes as people travel to nearby towns and cities to celebrate.

To help ease the expected congestion, the police have advised commuters to consider alternative routes and plan their journeys carefully.

According to the advisory, a significant increase in vehicular volume is expected on National Highway-44 and at the Singhu border, as commuters head towards destinations including Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat and Chandigarh.

To avoid congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow, commuters have been urged to consider alternate routes.

To avoid congestion, commuters heading towards Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat and Chandigarh through NH-44 and Singhu border are advised to consider alternate routes,” the advisory read on X.

“Public transportation options like the Delhi Metro can be a convenient alternative to reach your destination. Plan your journey in advance to ensure a smooth commute,” the advisory added.

Raksha Bandhan Traffic Advisory: Heavy Traffic Jams Hit Ghaziabad-Noida

The Ghaziabad section of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (NH-24) experienced severe traffic jams, particularly on the lanes from Ghaziabad towards Hapur and Meerut. The congestion stretched for several kilometres, causing major delays for drivers.

This heavy traffic buildup is being linked to the two-day holiday weekend for Raksha Bandhan combined with the weekend closure, resulting in an unusually high number of vehicles on the road. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and working to manage the traffic flow effectively.

Meanwhile, traffic near Noida’s Chhajarsi on NH-9 was slow-moving as people travelled home or made last-minute festival shopping plans ahead of Raksha Bandhan.

Similar slow traffic and congestion were reported near the Ghazipur border on the eve of Rakhi, with many commuters heading home and stopping for final festival purchases.
