Actor Rajkummar Rao won applause from Amitabh Bachchan and the audience after recreating the veteran actor’s iconic temple scene from the 1975 film ‘Deewaar’ on the quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Rajkummar appeared on the latest episode of the show alongside actress Wamiqa Gabbi and stepped into the spotlight after Bachchan called out, “Light, Sound, Camera, Action.”
Facing Bachchan, Rajkummar delivered Vijay Verma’s celebrated monologue from ‘Deewaar’, including the line, “Aaj khush toh bahut hoge tum…” The performance drew applause from Bachchan, Wamiqa Gabbi and the studio audience.
‘Deewaar’, regarded as one of Hindi cinema’s iconic films, starred Bachchan as Vijay Verma, a character who grows up amid poverty and humiliation before entering the criminal underworld and becoming powerful and wealthy.
This was not the first time Rajkummar had recreated a scene from the film on ‘KBC’. In 2021, while appearing on the show with Kriti Sanon, he performed another memorable exchange from ‘Deewaar’ in which Vijay lists his wealth and asks Bachchan’s character what he has.
Rajkummar said at the time, “Aaj mere paas building hai, property hai, bank balance hai, bungalow hai, gaadi hai. Tumhare paas kya hai bhai?”
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
