Rajinikanth’s Coolie trailer was unveiled at a star-studded event on August 2. Days ahead of the film’s big screen release, the makers hosted a grand Coolie Unleashed event.
At the trailer launch, the superstar got candid like never before, opening up about all things related to his film. At one point, he spoke about the time he worked as a coolie, and how he was mocked for his job. For the unversed, Coolie is set to hit the big screen on August 14, 2025.
Rajinikanth on his early days as a coolie
At the Coolie Unleashed event, superstar Rajinikanth shared, “One day a man asked me to carry a luggage into his tempo and gave me 2 Rupees for it. His voice sounded familiar to me, and I soon realized he was my college mate who I used to mock.”
“At that moment, he ridiculed me and said, ‘How arrogant you were in those days,’ mocking my job. That was the first time I broke down crying in my life,” he recalled.
Rajinikanth calls Lokesh Kanagaraj ‘true hero’ of Coolie
Apart from sharing a real-life anecdote, the superstar called Coolie director Lokesh Kanagaraj ‘true hero’ of the film. “The true hero of Coolie is none other than director Lokesh Kanagaraj. He has successfully carried sky-high expectations for the film, which was built purely organically. The most successful commercial director teamed up with me, and with a stellar star cast, he has created a storm,” he said.
