Rajdeep Sardesai Cancer Story: Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai told how this Diwali is the most special for him after winning the battle with prostate cancer. After robotic surgery he looked at life from a new perspective. He has also given a special message to everyone.
Rajdeep Sardesai Cancer: Well-known journalist Rajdeep Sardesai was diagnosed with prostate cancer four months ago. He himself gave this information in a post on X. He was diagnosed with cancer in July, just weeks after celebrating his 60th birthday, he said, but after successful robotic surgery in August, he learned to look at life from a new perspective. Rajdeep told that a routine medical checkup changed his world. A WhatsApp message from the doctor seemed to turn everything upside down. ‘Cancer me and how?’ This question kept echoing in his mind. He got courage when his son said, ‘If there is cancer, it is better to have prostate cancer, because it grows slowly and can be completely cured.’
Got new hope after surgery
Rajdeep Sardesai consulted the top doctors of the country and got robotic surgery done at Apollo Hospital, Delhi in August 2025. The surgery was successful and scans showed that the cancer had not spread. Now he is on active surveillance, but his outlook on life is more grateful and positive than ever before.
Family and team support
Rajdeep wholeheartedly thanked the team of Dr. Anshuman Aggarwal, Dr. Jaswinder Paintal, Dr. Gopal Sharma, his family and friends who supported him in his treatment. He said, ‘No medicine can replace the peace that comes from the love and support of one’s home.’ He told how his wife monitored his daily diet, his son guided him through every medical step, his daughter and son-in-law took leave and stayed with him and friends supported him in every difficulty. He said, ‘Every person should have such a WhatsApp group, which does not judge, just encourages.’
Special appeal and message on Diwali
Rajdeep appealed to all the people of the country for healthcare and said, ‘Lakhs of people in India do not get the facility of cancer screening and treatment. If we have to bring about change, then investment in public health system, public-private partnership and better facilities are necessary. This Diwali, he appealed to everyone to donate to organizations like CanSupport.org, so that someone else’s Diwali can also be brightened. He said, ‘Life is not always easy, but getting a chance to live it is the biggest blessing.’
