Jaipur: Every day it is seen that to protest against any accident or incident, people protest against the government and administration by writing dead bodies on the road. But Rajasthan has now become the only state in the country where protesting by keeping dead bodies on roads or in public places will be considered a crime. That is, the state government has enacted the ‘Dead Body Respect Act’ and implemented it.
What is the Dead Body Respect Act?
In fact, the Rajasthan government has also issued its notification by enacting ‘Dead Body Respect Act’. In which there is a provision for the harshest punishment. According to this law, if a non-family member of the deceased makes a political demonstration or protest against the dead body on the road, he will be jailed for 6 months to 5 years. Besides this, fine will also be imposed. Not only this, there is also a provision of one year imprisonment for the family of the deceased if they refuse to take the dead body after receiving 24 hours notice by the Executive Magistrate. After this, the police administration will take possession of the body, perform the last rites and take legal action against those responsible.
Ashok Gehlot government had made this law
Let us tell you that this bill was passed in the Assembly on July 20, 2023 by the Ashok Gehlot government as ‘Dead Body Respect Act’. Which was also passed, but it was not implemented, because at that time there was BJP government in opposition, which strongly opposed it. Now after two years, after BJP came to power, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has issued an order implementing this bill. The interesting thing is that no changes have been made in it.
